We come here in solemnity but not dispair, in submission to her death, but without too many disquieting thoughts, for such thoughts seemed to have little place in Irene's mind. Those of us who belive that death brings the end of individual existance know that during our lives we are responsble for each other, but we also depend on each other. So we live together as mutual givers and receivers depending on our strengths and needs at the diffrent times in our lives. This is enough to give the whole of our life its significance and its purpose. Our search for a pattern in life is answered by the natrual cycle of birth, life and death. All life, our own included, is locked into that pattern. In our personal achievements, in the minds of those who have knowen us and in our children rests the continuation of something of ourselves.
